Glimmerglass Trip

On the last weekend in July we took a group of 13 “Live & About” subscribers up to Cooperstown NY to enjoy the Glimmerglass Festival. This marks the expansion of our “Live & About” season with our first annual tour and field trip to music-theatre festivals outside the DC area.

We were treated to performances of both traditional and new works of Music-Theatre:

  • La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi

  • Show Boat by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II

  • Ghosts of Versailles by John Corigliano/William M. Hoffman

  • Blue – World Premiere by Jeanine Tesori and Tazewell Thompson

In addition, we secured tickets for the

sold-out presentation by

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who shared

her passion for opera and her perspective

on law in the arts.

On Saturday morning Sean Sansevere,

the Group Sales Director, gave our group

a very informative back-stage

(and on-stage) tour of Glimmerglass.

After our Sunday afternoon picnic,

to end our tour Klea Blackhurst

dazzled us with her performance of

Everything the Traffic will Allow,

a one-woman tribute to Ethel Merman.

We stayed at the comfortable and modest

Lake ‘N Pines Motel on shores of

beautiful Otsego Lake.

Hope you enjoy some slides from our trip.

Stay tuned for our 2020 trip!
