Michael Yeshion
Michael Yeshion is the real deal, an artist who can deliver a song and make every note come from a place of emotional truth. The Alliance had already cast him in the role of Poseidon/General in Women of Troy: Voices from Afghanistan in our 2018 showcase of Page to Stage at the Kennedy Center and it had been a joy to work with this singing-actor. Then we saw him perform the role of Juan Peron in Evita, and it was clear here was a man who could help us build a company with his range of talents.
He will be singing the role of Pepito, the lovable dog in Nick Benavides’ opera and Landovsky/Foreman in Maurice Saylor’s musical fantasy Vaněk Unleashed as part or The Havel Project in the 2019-2020 season.
Some of his other favorite credits include Bill Sykes in Oliver! (Forestburgh Playhouse), Major Holmes in The Secret Garden (Cincinnati Playhouse/Baltimore Centerstage & Lucille Lortel), the man-eating Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors (Lucille Lortel), a gender-bending Mother in the Off-Broadway revival of Kiss of the Spider Woman (Sanford Meisner Theatre), and singing with the Muppets at Carnegie Hall. Recently finished a beautiful production of 110 in the Shade at the historic Ford's Theatre and is currently working on Evita at North Shore Music Theatre.
Michael can be heard on the Richard Rodgers Award Winning recording of Red Clay, the Drama Desk nominated recording of John Tartaglia's Imaginocean, the MTI recording of Craig Carnelia's The Good War and several other cast recordings.
Mr. Yeshion has also appeared on several TV shows such as "Celebrity Ghost Stories" and "True Crimes with Aphrodite Jones". Starred in a "I Can't Believe it's Not Butter" and "HP" Commercial and can also be seen on a variety of successful webisodes for Collegehumor.com, which have a collective six million hits on YouTube.
On the other side of the performance table, Michael has served as an assistant director at opera houses across the country, including the Ravinia Festival, Fort Worth Opera, Mill City Summer Opera, Seagle Music Colony and was the AD/fight choreographer for La Fancuilla Del West at the Des Moines Metro Opera.
As a photographer, Michael has a robust NYC studio and frequently takes pictures of Met Opera and Broadway Stars, business executives, million dollar apartments, and anything else that catches his eye. Having been on the other side of the camera, he knows exactly what to look for in creating an image. His pictures have been featured on Backstage, Playbill, Broadway World, Sotheby’s International Realty, Bershire Hathaway HomeServices, and more.
Michael holds a BFA in Acting from Southern Methodist University and is an alumni of the Broadway Theater Project. He resides in New York City with his talented wife and Alliance company member, Brittany Baratz. He is excited to bring his unique creative vision to establishing community through ensemble works with the Alliance for New Music-Theater.
