A Journey in Musical Languages across the Spectrum of Music-Theatre
Through Performance & Conversation
It is more important now than ever to support the local theater community and to celebrate our city’s talented artists.
We hope you will join us for this season.
“Live & About” is curated subscription series with monthly Outings to various theatres representing large and small companies around the DMV introducing you to different live music-theatre experiences across the spectrum. Enjoy seeing shows with friends, followed by conversation delving into the artists’ intentions, learning from others in the group about different perspectives, and sharpening our critical appreciation of this most hybrid of performance forms.
By joining in this series, you support companies across the DMV, save money by getting in on a group discount, and make new friends to expand your minds and appetite for new and different voices and genres in our culturally rich and diverse community.
Weeknight and weekend matinees are, in most months, options.
For this upcoming season, we are focusing on different venues, and some may surprise you. How does the space affect the experience? And how does the space expand and enhance what we may call music-theater?

2026 Spring Season Outings

February
Chez Joey
at Arena Stage
1101 Sixth Street SW
Thursday, Feb 12 at 8:00 pm
or
Sunday, Feb 15, 2:00 pm
The year is 1940-something, and Chicago’s night scene is sizzling. Enter Joey Evans. A slick-talking, velvet-voiced songster with dreams bigger than the bandstand. But in a city where the right connections mean everything, he is caught between a bright-eyed chorus girl and a wealthy baroness who can bankroll his big break—for a price. As the lights dim and the music swells, Joey’s got a choice to make: play it straight or risk it all for the spotlight. This classic Rodgers and Hart score, including “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered,” “What Is a Man?,” and “I Could Write a Book,” now includes “This Can’t Be Love” and “The Lady Is a Tramp,” among others. Co-directed by Tony Award-winning choreographer Savion Glover and actor, director, and producer Tony Goldwyn, the stakes are high, the music is hot, and the game of romance and ambition never sounded so good.
Added Bonus: Awa Sal Secka, who was featured in our December Cabaret at the Arts Club is in the cast.

at Ford’s Theatre

Thursday, March 26 7:00 pm
or

This popular American musical is an insightful, vibrant and humorous take on our founding fathers’ determination to do the right thing for their fledgling nation. As members of the Second Continental Congress struggle to reach consensus, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson argue for independence from the British monarchy. The ensuing debates defined our country. As we explore this historical moment through the evolving identity of America today, this robust, award-winning musical boldly brings our country’s beginnings to blazing life.

April
Young John Lewis:
Prodigy of Protest
at Mosaic Theater
1333 H St NE
Thursday, April 16 at 7:30 pm
or
Sunday, April 19 3:00 PM
It’s time to make some Good Trouble! In this new musical, Mosaic’s Playwright-in-Residence Psalmayene 24 honors the legendary “Conscience of Congress”: the late Congressman John Lewis.
Focusing on the Congressman’s formative years of ages 18-28, Young John Lewis: Prodigy of Protest reveals the humanity and heart of this mighty historic figure. The musical explores how the murder of Emmett Till motivated Lewis to pursue a life of service, including leading the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, fighting for Civil Rights with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and working for nearly two decades in Congress.
A theatrical event not to be missed, Young John Lewis: Prodigy of Protest is both a galvanizing call to action and an inspiring reminder that we can all make a difference, no matter our age.
