Yvette Spears first appeared with our company in the spring of 2022 to perform in the Voices of Zion: The Black Georgetown Cemeteries Project. In the Fall she was invited to be a full company member and stepped into the role of Consuelo in our chamber opera, On the Road to Arivaca, for the performance sponsored by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC.) In this role, she demonstrated this singer is a force of nature.

Yvette hails originally from New Orleans, LA, but is most recognized as a Jazz Vocalist in the Washington, DC area where she resides, with national and international tours to her credit. In all her work, Yvette serves as a Cultural Envoy for the city of New Orleans for contributions in music and the performing arts community through the preservation and presentation of New Orleans culture.

She is the creator of Beaux-Arts Collective and Voices from the Jazz Boutique which produces stage presentations such as “My Creole Love Call,” “Southern Nights,” “Chantez le Bas-Josephine,” “Mahogany (Hall) Blues,” “Creolean Christmas.”

Other stage credits include A Night at the Dewdrop Inn, Ladies in the Day, Blackberry Daze (for which Yvette was recognized by DC Metro Theatre Arts as Best Performance in a musical,) All Night Strutt, Ladies Swings the Blues, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Once on this Island, Purlie, and Slam.

Yvette gives honor and dedication to God, ...her family for their awesome love and encouragement, and extreme gratitude to Theatre Washington and its Taking Care project, which provides financial support to actors in need.
